The move Freedom Writers was written and directed by Richard LaGravenese and based on The Freedom Writers Diary by Erin Gruwell and her class. The main actors in the movie were, Hilary Swank as Erin Gruwell,
Scott Glenn as Steve Gruwell and April Lee Hernández as Eva Benitez. The movie was released January 5, 2007.
The movie is about a teacher, Erin Gruwell beginning her job at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. Were she learns about the gangs, and how the kids treat each other based on race, and tries to change the way her class fells about each other by teaching them about the holocaust She gradually begins to earn their trust, and buys them books to record a diary, in which they talk about their experiences of being abused, seeing their friends die, and being evicted. I believe that the theme of this movie would be that everyone has potential if you give them a chance to show it.
This movie was good, but may not be what your looking for if you enjoy horror or action. I myself enjoy movies with a lot of comedy but i did find this movie amusing. There weren't very many special effects in this movie but the effects there were, were done well.
I found the acting in this movie was done very well even though the actors were much older then the kids they were playing, they played the part well though. The music in this movie was not music i myself would listen to but it seemed to be fitting to the movie.
